Meet the Team

The Innovation Scout team is made up of experienced entrepreneurs, corporate executives, and university academics.

CEO and Co-Founder, Annette Tonti is an executive with over 30 years of corporate and entrepreneurial experience. As founder and CEO of 3 high-tech startups, she has developed early stage businesses and raised over $30M from Venture and Angel investors. Early in her career she delivered digital strategies to Fortune 1000 businesses, ran a global program for the MIT Media Labs and led operations for a global telecommunications consultancy. She is an accomplished business leader who has a 'thing' for inventors and inventions.

Dr. Lutz Hamel, Machine Learning and Big Data Advisor, is Associate Professor Computer Science and Statistics at the University of Rhode Island. He is a veteran software professional, computer scientist, and author with more than 30 years of professional and academic experience.  He is the author of the industry leading book “Knowledge Discovery with Support Vector Machines” published by Wiley.  In addition to his book, Dr. Hamel has over 50 publications in the areas of programming languages, machine learning, and data mining.

Michael Glavich is Chief Business Accelerator & Change Catalyst for The Innovation Scout. He excels at helping companies combine digital strategy and emerging technologies to achieve market leadership. He is the innovation leader whose concepts have led to the original Big Data company; AC Nielson, creating Nielson’s Confectionary Index. The Killer App folks; Diamond Technology Partners, for emerging electronic payment offerings; and the inventors of business process re-engineering, CSC/Index, for the concept ‘Farm as a Factory’ for a global agriculture/manufacturing leader.

Joel Evans, Co-Founder N-Powered. Alexa Champion. Joel has 20+ years of experience and expertise with ‘Alexa, Echo, AWS, mobile, wearables, and voice technologies’. n-Powered is a firm dedicated to ‘empowering universities to address the challenges along the student journey, from pre-enrollment through Alumni’. Joel has a long history of transforming and advising companies using the latest technology, having been the Co-Founder and ‘chief geek’ of, and more recently the Co-Founder and VP of Digital Transformation for Mobiquity, Inc. Matt Flanagan, Innovation Strategist, Agile Marketer, Design Thinker.  Matt is a proven entrepreneur and business leader with more than 25 years of experience building companies and helping clients develop innovative brands and high-impact marketing programs. Working with international, domestic and cross functional units, he designs data-driven, omni-channel lead generation programs and corporate messaging platforms that increase sales and differentiate brands. He specializes in financial services and technology and regularly runs executive-level strategy and design thinking workshops for clients. Brad Power, Lean Startup, Process Innovation Expert, As one of the original thought-leaders behind the concepts of business reengineering; Brad Power is a global subject matter expert on Lean Startup, Process Innovation and Digital Strategy Transformation. Mr. Power’s consulting and research expertise has resulted in more than 86 articles published in Harvard Business Review focusing on the future of innovation, digital strategy and continuous, agile process. From his early days working with Michael Hammer in the 1990s to his more recent experience at the Lean Enterprise Institute, Brad has had a passion for developing continuous improvement as an element of corporate culture.
